Why Olympic Park is a different problem from the SCG

Accor Stadium sits inside a precinct designed to move very large crowds on foot and by rail. That works well — but it also means the roads immediately around the stadium are managed and, on a major-event day, largely closed to general traffic close to the venue.

The result is counter-intuitive: the fastest arrival is usually the one that stops earliest. A drop-off at an agreed point on the precinct edge, followed by a walk along a wide, well-lit pedestrian route, beats a vehicle inching towards a gate it will never reach.

When should we arrive?

For a Sunday-evening Grand Final with a full house, aim to be dropped off ninety minutes to two hours before kick-off. That covers the entry queue, the walk from the precinct edge, food, and being in your seat for the pre-match.

If your day includes a lunch, a function or a corporate box, the booking is timed from that commitment rather than the kick-off. Tell us the earliest fixed commitment of the day and we plan backwards from it.

Coming from the CBD, the eastern suburbs, the north shore or the Hills, allow considerably more time than the map suggests: everyone heading to Homebush uses a small set of the same motorways and arterials.

Drop-off and pickup: two different points

Write both into the booking before the day.

Drop-off should be on the approach side that matches your gate, at the earliest end of your arrival window. Arriving even twenty minutes before the main wave changes the experience entirely.

Pickup should sit clear of the main exit flow. After a Grand Final, a very large crowd leaves within a compressed period, much of it towards the rail concourse. A vehicle waiting inside that movement cannot leave.
